Food Steamers

Food steamers no longer need to be dust collectors in the cupboard.

Instead, how about a quick, healthy everyday appliance in your kitchen?

I know the popularity of steaming food for health and I suppose convenience reasons started years ago and I’m sure there are hundreds of people who have food steamers gathering dust in their kitchen cupboards but I’ve finally decided to join the group and get myself one. As a mom of two young children the idea of being able to pretty much put a whole evenings meal into the steamer and have it all cook together just sounds fantastic – will it actually work out that way, only time will tell!!

I’ve decided to rather go for an electric one mainly because it’s cheaper then using your stove but also because a lot of them have timers on them too.

After looking around quite a bit these are my top steamers. I’ve decided to go for middle of the range price as lets face it there is no guarantee that mine isn’t also going to be gathering dust in the kitchen cupboard in the near future.

Russell Hobbs 15071 9 L 3-Tier White Food Steamer

The main things I like about this one are the timer, the rice bowl the large size plus the bases are removable so you can put larger items inside too.

Tefal VC100615 Ultra Compact 3 Tier Steamer, Chrome

Firstly I just love the look of this steamer. The baskets all turn upside down and stack on top of the base. All the trays can go directly into the dishwasher (a must for me!) and best of all it has a feature of a descaling turbo ring which starts the steaming process in 15 seconds for faster cooking

If price was no concern I would quickly buy this one!!!

Tefal Vitacuisine Compact Steamer VS400315, 10.3 Litre, Metal Finish

This is seriously the crème de la crème of steamers. Features include … Cooks three-course meals in one go – in as little as 10 minutes, 3-in-1 technology (means you can cook fish, meat, vegetables and dessert without mixing of flavours), Patented ultracompact storage, save up to 35% more space, Delayed start (up to 60 minutes), Keep warm function, Warning indicator alarm when water level is low, Four steaming cups for creative meals and individual desserts, Steamer has three tiers, two sauce trays with handles and four cups with lids
