John Lewis Fashion - Christmas In July

Arriving outside One Marylebone last week for the John Lewis Christmas In July press event to find artificial snow drifting down was somewhat surreal.

Finding myself in a very warm basement that was decked out like the inside of an igloo, albeit an igloo harbouring winter fashion treasures, only further served to confuse my meteorological senses.

But I soon forgot the fact that my make-up felt as if it was sliding off my face under the heat of the lights as the fashion show started. The models came out in their winter layers, somehow managing to look cool, calm and collected.... and I promptly started dreaming of winter clothing....

I loved the Paul And Joe Sister blouse, Joules coat and Whistles trousers....

... and two things definitely going onto my winter wardrobe list will be this Celia Birtwell for John Lewis sprigette print blouse , seen here with G Star jeans...

... and the French Connection Highland hooded cape worn with Tara Jarmon blouse and NW3 Holly Washed Jeans. I so need a cape this winter and this one gave me the shakes I loved it so much - not good when you're trying to hold a camera steady!

Once again I was impressed at the wide range of names carried by John Lewis. When I go to my local shopping mall, it's the first place I head specifically for that reason. If there's no need to traipse from shop to shop then it's the perfect excuse to go shopping in heels!

After the show, glass of champagne in hand, I wandered around the veritable treasure trove of covetable clothing and desirable accessories.

I think that this Lulu Guinness clutch and I may have fallen deeply, utterly and hopelessly in love. It may be a bit one sided on my part but it's love nonetheless.

Clothing featured will be in store at John Lewis in August and September except for the Celia Birtwell blouse which will be available in October. I for one will be first in the queue for that and the hooded cape!
