Welcome to Whisperer Island: Most Wanted Resort 2011

All this sunshine of late has put me solidly in the mood to obsess and fantasize about a vacation 24/7.

It's been a full year since my body last slipped into a bikini and offered itself to Apollo beach-side for eight hour stints at a time--and the itch is starting to gnaw at me like a bad sunburn. Alas, a holiday, for the moment, is not in the cards, as full time blogging and booking leave little time for sunkissed fun. So when I read in the Guardian last week that the fiscally stricken Greece, my favorite destination other than Italy (Latinist first, Hellenist second), is preparing to sell some of its 6,000 islands in a desperate attempt to start whittling away at some of its monumental debts. The Guardian reported that Mykonos, one of my favorite islands, is one of the sites for sale.

So as I haven't as yet so much as mentioned the words "Resort 2011" on this blog, I thought I'd overlook the culturally depressing and tragic implications of Greece surrendering some of its Cycladic jewels, and do a full-blown fantasy post. If I had my own Greek island, what would I pack? So without further ado, I bid you welcome to Whisperer Island, I hope you enjoy your stay!
