Pushing The Denim Boundaries For SS12 At Donna Ida

Whilst immersed in the greyness of January, there’s nothing better than leafing through spring summer 2012 look books full of pastels, prints, brights and polka dots.

And that’s exactly what I found on the pages of Donna Ida’s new season offerings.

The clashing and coordinating acid pastels in the form of cropped skinnies worn with simple T’s and a vibrant scarf were my absolute favourite, closely followed by the new J Brand Maverick. As a one time lover of the Houlihan, how could I resist? Then there are the looks that will never date and simply require a new season update. MiH Marrakesh faded blue flares are given a vintage romantic feel with the addition of draped jacket and sheer top.

Here are some of my favourite pieces for the season ahead and some that have already arrived at Donna Ida

After seeing all the ice cream colours on the SS12 catwalks from Mulberry, Just Cavalli PPQ and Fendi, it’s mouthwateringly good to see it translate down to the perfect summer denim shades. Ice lolly and sunnies optional!

Hudson Nico Skinny Jean in Cherry – £195 Donna Ida

If you’re brave enough to take your love of polka dots right down to your jeans, opt for the Current/Elliott Stiletto jeans in purple or green and wear with colour block basics. Or join the dots now with a scarf in a muted tone from Stella McCartney instead.

Stella McCartney Spots Scarf – was £415, now £207.50 at Donna Ida

Current/Elliott Stiletto Jeans in Sand Dollar – £185 Donna Ida, Lily And Lionel Ryder Scarf – £145 Donna Ida,

Take the pyjama dressing trend into the denim arena with the subtle stripes and tones of the Current/Elliott Stiletto jeans in Sand Dollar or make Rachel Zoe proud with the MiH Marakesh flares – I can almost hear the utterance of “I DIE” at the sight of this look.

Investment denim is the vital backbone of any great wardrobe so if you haven’t had the courage to take the plunge, make 2012 the year you do it at Donna Ida. The in-store denim clinic has reached legendary status within fashion circles and there’s now an online version available. You can even use this service to send in your picture and questions to their denim experts who will come back to you with personal fit advice to help you find the jean that’s right for you.

For an insight to just how dedicated to the denim cause Donna is, take a look at parts one and two of A Day In The Life Of Donna Ida over at Liberty London Girl’s blog - I felt exhausted just reading it. You can also follow Donna on Twitter here. When I need motivating or an incentive to work harder, I just read her Tweets!
