Paris Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012:

Alessandra Rich

Whispered by The Clothes Whisperer

So I took Baby Whisperer to go see our lovely and uber talented friend Alessandra Rich (with whom we had the treat of playing dress up back in London earlier this summer), who was presenting in the Place Vendome.

Her collection, entitled "Vegas" was definitely a treat and I truly believe that Alessandra's is a name we will be hearing a lot more of as awards season draws ever near. Her light and elegant touch to silhouette and pristine attention to detail in her craftsmanship are her crowning glory and I simply love each and every one of her pieces. Her press release tells a lovely little story so I have reproduced it for you in full below. Hope Baby W and I get to play dress up with this collection sometime soon, some serious lust-worthy lace gowns and coats, sigh...

Johnny: Tell me something nice.

Vienna: Sure, what do you want to hear?

Johnny: Lie to me. Tell me all these years you've waited. Tell me.

Vienna: All those years I've waited.

Johnny: Tell me you'd a-died if I hadn't come back.

Vienna: I woulda died if you hadn't come back.

Johnny: Tell me you still love me like I love you.

Vienna: I still love you like you love me.

Johnny: Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Trucolor, extra-sweet and excessive, the VEGAS woman by Alessandra Rich has just rewound ‘Johnny Guitar’ and she’s dressing, bow at her neck and a belt on her waist, ready to place her poker chips on the table.

Sexy, shinning and loud, she wears column dresses open on the side with soft drapes that wrap her hips. Lace, paillettes, lurex, cady and crepe de chine are the fabrics that outline her silhouette. Navy blue, black, red, gun metal and cream are the colours that she prefers, when she doesn’t let herself go to the lightness of the colourful polka dots. To disrupt the geometry of the collection there are sudden straight splits in the middle of the skirts, balloon sleeves with layers of organza, micro lace socks, the marinière In lurex and strong gold buckles for the belts.

Tell me something nice. Tell me VEGAS.
