Seeing Spots

Whether it’s down to the inner child or the secret love for a spot of kitsch once in a while, I’m really pleased to see the amount of polka dot pieces around at the moment.

It’s a happy print that makes me smile when I wear it.

Seeing Spots

Whether it’s down to the inner child or the secret love for a spot of kitsch once in a while, I’m really pleased to see the amount of polka dot pieces around at the moment.

It’s a happy print that makes me smile when I wear it. As well as resurrecting my black and white Hobbs Audrey dress that I bought five years ago, I’ve been casting my eye over a few dotty extras.

When it’s teamed with tan or chocolate brown accessories a la Rachel Bilson, it becomes slightly edgier meaning that those upwards of thirty five can also do it. Without the need for accompanying hair bunches.

Boutique by Jaeger Polka Dot Dress – £130 John Lewis, Brown Ribbon Slouch Bag – £30 Dorothy Perkins, Ricky Cowboy Style Boot – £99 Dune, Tortoiseshell Sunglasses – £20 John Lewis

I saw a look on Alexa Chung recently with a navy polka dot blouse under a biker jacket, worn with jeans and flats – very do-able. I also love the relaxed grown up vibe at Whistles.

But you don’t have to make all about serious spots. In a bikini such as this one by J Crew it becomes fun. And who wouldn’t smile at these beautiful Miu Miu Polka Dot Satin Twill Sandals? For real 50′s glamour you could always strut along poolside in both at the same time!

Grab a bag, a scarf or a pair of shoes, throw on a dress or tuck your dotty blouse into your jeans. Whichever you choose, have fun with it and wear with the best accessory… a huge smile.
